22 weeks + update on closet

I am feeling great! Nothing has changed on my front. My tummy is starting to stick out but I don't feel like I look pregnant just fat lol. My husband says I just look like I have eaten a few big dinners... a few times. haha. Ty says my tummy is getting so big and one day it's gonna pop. Ohhh, how these guys just make me smile. Love them both! I am finally able to feel her move a whole lot more now, which is so exciting. She is also now about 11 inches and almost one pound!

Her crib is finally all put together. In fact, the day we got the new one (December 15th) I put it together that night. Tyler thought I was nuts. However, I want to finish everything so my last month I just get to focus on Ty. He is soo excited to see his little sister but I can't help but feel bad for how much this will rock his world. He will have had 4 years of everyone's undivided attention.

We also started her closet. My wonderful husband sanded and did the first coat of paint while I primed and did the second coat of paint. We decided to use a bookshelf that we weren't using, for the middle part of the design I want for her closet.

Ty LOVES to help! Especially since he knows it is for his sister

Just put the primer on!

We put the closet rods on the middle shelf. We still need to paint, sand, add baskets, and the shelves on the other side!

All I know is our little daughter is SO lucky to have such an amazing father and brother!!

Lesson of a mother

I found tickets on Living Social for 50 % Oakland Zoo lights. It was such a deal and I was so glad we jumped on them. Ty loves the zoo but now we had the opportunity to go at night and see Christmas lights which is Ty's favorite! My in laws decided to go to Chilis before and invited us. Ty didn't have a nap and restaurants are so not my thing with a toddler when no nap has been taken but we went hoping for the best. He was pretty good while we waited for them to meet us there until the food came. So I took Ty outside and tried to calm him down to no avail. By the time he calmed himself down everyone was already done eating.I wasn't feeling well which made everything worse but well, the life of a mother.

We went to the zoo and Ty was very excited to see all of the lights. We also saw some animals when we rode the train, which was a real treat! he had quite a few freak outs but really enjoyed seeing the lights. We came home, put the cranky little boy to bed and wanted to relax until bedtime. Then about an hour after we put him to bed he wakes up screaming that his leg hurt. I laid in bed and cuddled him and Tyler tries calming him down. Ty then tells daddy he can leave and play video games because he is okay now. So Tyler gets up to leave and I ask Ty if I can leave too and he says no. I ask him why and he says, "because you my mommy and I love you."

In that very instant all of the drama and stress from the hours before washed away. The whining, kicking, screaming, pouting, yelling and anger just left me. Dealing with a three year old day in and day out and being a constant playmate wears me out sometimes. Being pregnant on top of that and sick with the flu just puts me in my place sometimes. These sweet little moments with my son makes everything all worthwhile. I don't have a perfect child. At times, he screams, whines and pouts. But there are moments when he is absolutely the most perfect human being in the whole world.

20 weeks!

So I finished up 20 weeks with the flu. No fun. Other than that, we celebrated our half way milestone with chocolate and sparkling apple-grape cider. It was delicious! Our little girl is about10.5 ounces and 10 inches from head to heel. It is absolutely amazing how our bodies work and how spectacular they are. We were also able to have another ultrasound which also confirmed we are having a little girl. We were able to see her yawn and then after that she covered her face the entire time! No fun! It is so crazy to think we have only 20weeks left and she is here! How exciting. I have tried to embrace the pink and bought some VERY cute newborn pink shorts. Ty has decided her name is baby sister so until we come up with a name that'll be it :)

By the way, for anyone who is pregnant... I LOVE babycenter. I get weekly emails about what our little one is doing and they send nifty pictures (like the one above) about the progress of the baby. Tyler and I LOVE to read about all of the new developments that our little one is going through!

The Nutcracker and how we lost blankie..again

I found out at church that they were showing the Nutcracker Ballet at the temple and I was soo excited to bring Ty to it. My husband wasn't as excited as I was so I decided to invite my mother in law and her mom. It was such a treat! Surprisingly, Ty did AMAZING! However, I felt bad for people sitting around us because he would constantly ask my mother in law, "What is happening? What is next? Who is that?" It was hilarious.

Ohhh, and she got him a little Nutcracker ( because he broke mine) so he could hold it when we were watching the ballet. He loved seeing the Nutcracker part but as soon as he turned into the Nutcracker prince he flipped out. He wanted to know what happened and why he turned into the "boy" so my mother in law explained and he goes, "nutcracker not real?" and kicks his nutcracker. Not too worry, the Nutcracker is still very important to him and that has been forgotten.

Now onto how we lost Blankie... again! After the ballet we walked around the temple grounds and looked at the beautiful Christmas lights. Then we walked to the car and got some hot chocolate on the way home. When we got home, we got him ready for bed and that's when the dreaded question was asked," Where is blankie?" I looked all around and couldn't find it anywhere. My mother in law took us so I assumed I left it in her car. No worries, we would see her the next day and I could get it then. We told Ty, Blankie was fine and with grandma. I called Maria and she said it wasn't in her car. My heart dropped. She thought that they had left it on the couch in the foyer. I had just about the worst feeling that whole night so I laid in bed with him and just held him. He woke up at about 3 am screaming for his blanket. I tried to soothe him but he was just so upset. As soon as we woke up I called the temple and asked if anyone had returned a blanket. I was soo excited when she said yes until I heard, " It's a soft blue blanket with stars." She then said nothing else was turned in and to call later.

I'm extremely impatient so I put Ty in the car and we were headed to the temple. When I was driving Ty tells me that if we don't find it he will scream and cry... a lot. Lovely. Now, if only for my sanity we better find this dang blanket. We drove around and there was no luck. Earlier, Maria told me that the blanket was in the pictures when we were looking at Christmas lights so it wouldn't be in the foyer but around the lights area. I drove around the parking area and kept saying a quick prayer when right in the middle of two cars there it was all wrapped up in a bush. I was so excited! Like it could not have been put in a better spot! Had it been in front of a car, I probably would not have seen it.

I now have one happy little boy!

Nursery closet ideas

I am absolutely IN LOVE with this closet. I found it on Pinterest and Tyler and I have decided to go ahead and do it for the nursery. Our house has some pretty crappy closet doors so we have decided to take out the closet doors in her room and either add the bifold doors or keep it spacious and open. The closet in her room is pretty big so I wanted something that offers lots of organization so we don't end up with a bunch of clutter.

Tyler thinks it will be pretty easy to get the wood and put it in there. But, he does work crazy hours and not sure when he'll find the time. So if all else fails we can purchase it at home depot!

Project before the baby comes!

BEFORE ( STEP ONE)

( I removed all of the hardware, ugly drawer liner and drawer that opened)

This was one of my many many projects I wanted to do before I got pregnant that I never got around too. We actually got this dresser for free when I was pregnant with Ty and I had high hopes to finish it with him but well, that never happened. My plan is to strip it (which is why I can't do it now) then repaint it white and get new hardware. I didn't like the drawer that opened so we decided to remove it and add baskets inside. I'm a little sad I won't be able to do all the hard work but luckily, I have a husband who is willing to do this for me. I wanted a white dresser so it could match our new crib!!

Our new crib that we ordered for our baby girl!

19 weeks

So I finished 18 weeks feeling better than ever! I haven't thrown up in a week which has been a blessing. I also feel like I have a ton more energy than ever before. We went to my doctors appointment and I have so far gained 4 lbs. I was at -2 lbs from pre pregnancy weight and then gained six lbs so now I am at 4 lbs. I kinda freaked so I went to the gym the next day. I started following a better exercise and eating habit for myself. I haven't been craving anything at all. Which has been bothering my husband because he is waiting for my late night cravings. That was probably his favorite part of my 1st pregnancy. Tyler and I have gotten over the semi shock of having a little girl. We are getting more and more excited each day. The child care lady at the gym asked Ty if he was excited to have a little sister that looked like him and he said, "She won't look like me... she will be tiny with a bow in her hair!"

So we are having a little girl!

I normally post a week after events happen just because I am that lazyand of course, I did it again! First off, Ty was right!!! I started throwing up around 4 weeks which was completely different from Ty. This whole pregnancy has been completely different. After talking to different women, everyone kept telling me it was most likely a girl. I had assumed it was a girl only because how crappy I had been feeling for a while. When the ultrasound tech informed us we were having a girl it was such a shock and beautiful feeling. For one, I'm glad Ty got what we wanted but I was also looking forward to having one of each. I'm not your typical mom looking forward to the pink and all that but I am so excited for the bond that I will have with her.

When we told my mom we were having a girl she immediately cried which made me cry. She was so happy we gave her her first granddaughter. We have so much boy action when we visit my parents that it will be nice to have a little girl in the mix. My little sister immedately started thinking of girl names such as Trixie, Tabitha and Cinderella. We loved those names but will probably go a different direction however, we told her to keep thinking! My little sister is so excited to have a little girl in the family since she is always so outnumbered.

We all went to Target that night to look at girl clothes and oh boy, was my husband overwhelmed. He saw the ruffles, bright pink colors and "clippies" and just had to get the heck out of that area. He is starting to get more excited although he is still nervous as all heck. He is going to be such an amazing father to a little girl. We are very excited! We have our next ultrasound on December 19th which will hopefully confirm we are still having a little girl. But, if they were wrong, we get $250! lol.. so it won't be such a bad day!

We got our Christmas tree!

So, we were finally able to put up our tree on December 1st like I have always wanted too. Last year, we didn't put it up until Dec 15th. How ridiculous. However, we did move into our first home and I blame it on our hectic lives. Man, it feels so nice to not have to think about moving for a very long time!

Anyways, back to Christmas! I have been looking for deals for Christmas trees and found the best one at Lucky's. For $39, we were able to get a 8 ft Noble Fir! Much cheaper than Home Depot, which is what we usually do. We have never had such a big tree and we were so pleased with how beautiful it looks :) Because of how big it is we will need to buy more ornaments which is not a problem for this mama :)

Ty has been so excited for Christmas and so excited to put up all the decorations. I don't ever want this excitement to ever go away!

Holiday Traditions

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot Chocolate for sure! We started a tradition that after getting our Christmas tree we go to Starbucks and get our hot cocoa and decorate the tree as a family!

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa wraps our presents in gold wrapping paper. It is always VERY nicely wrapped and usually takes Santa a LONG time to make sure it looks very nice!

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? Haha, Tyler and I disagree on this completely. I CANNOT stand color lights. Like at all. I like the look of white lights. Sorry to everyone who likes colored lights. However, while shopping for our outside lights Tyler refused to cave. And of course, I refused to get color lights. However, we compromised a little bit. We did candy cane inspired lights where we alternated and did red & white lights. But he still lets me have white lights on the tree:)

4. Do you hang mistletoe? We actually never have. And I don't know why but we will for sure do it this year!

5. When do you put your decorations up? We don't have a set time but usually the first week after Thanksgiving. We put our decorations up on Nov 30th and then put our tree up Dec 1st!

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? I love love love baking with Ty so usually whatever we do as a family. However, my dad makes the best ham with this mouth watering honey glaze that goes on it. It is just amazing!!

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? I loved decorating the tree while listening to the Mariah Carey Christmas CD.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? What truth? The spirit of Santa is as real as can be!

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Yes, Pj's!

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? Tyler's mom had this amazing tradition of getting each kid an ornament each year. We have continued this tradition so Ty gets to pick one out and we pick out a family ornament each year. So, our tree is very boyish. I have gotten some new ones but a lot of them consist of Tyler's sporting ones. Our tree has a lot of character but it is beautiful anways!

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? LOVE it! We went to the snow last year and want to plan a family snow trip again this year!

12. Can you ice skate? I haven't ice skated in about 6 years. I wanted to take Ty but being pregnant I will have to hold off.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? Actually no. I do remember getting an outfit I really like.
14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? I just love the magic of Christmas.Especially this year because Ty is so overly excited about everything.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? I love everything! Sugar cookies, fudge, cakes... mmmm!

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? We started a new tradition with a advent calender and a little Christmas tree. Each day, Ty gets to open the little door and there is an ornament for him to put on his very own tree. The first 12 days are nativity pieces so we have been going over the Birth of Christ so he has a better understanding of the purpose of Christmas.

17. What tops your tree? A ribbon. We haven't found one we really like!

18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving? I love giving! Especially with kids... seeing their cute little eyes and smiles definitely puts a smile on your face!

19. Candy Canes: Yuck or Yum? I only like the multi colored ones or the cherry ones. Not a peppermint fan!

20. Favorite Christmas show or movie? Elf, The original How the Grinch Stole Christmas, all of the old Christmas cartoons, Miracle on 34Th St

21. Saddest Christmas Song? Definitely Christmas shoes. My dad had me listen to the song a few years ago and every time I hear that I just cry!

22. What is your favorite Christmas song? I love every Christmas song. Really. Ty and I have the Christmas station in the car all month long and listen to it at home. But no one sings Christmas music like Mariah Carey! I am IN LOVE with her CD!

Thanksgiving 2011

This year was just so amazing! We were able to celebrate the Sunday before Thanksgiving with my family and Thanksgiving Day with my in laws. It was so nice to have a stress free Thanksgiving where nobody was sick and we were able to relax and enjoy everyone's company unlike last year. I didn't take any pictures at my parent's house but the food was yummy and all of the kids and our family had a blast.

Thanksgiving Day was nice because we were able to sleep in a little bit and watch some football before we had to leave for my in laws. Dinner was sooo absolutely delicious! Tyler's mom turned her garage into a cute play area for the kids where there were couches, movies, table for coloring and glow sticks. The kids had a great time! It was so nice to enjoy the evening and spend time with a fabulous family! We are so lucky to have so many wonderful people to spend the holiday season with!

The beautiful table

The yummy food!

Monday Funday

Tyler had Monday off so we were able to get a TON done around the house. We started cleaning out the guest bedroom to move everything around so we could start setting up the new babies room. Ty originally had a twin bed and there was a queen in the guest room but we realized a crib, dresser, rocking chair and queen bed wouldn't fit in the babies room so we decided to switch out the beds. Ty was so excited to have a big bed. Thankfully, the rooms are quite large so he still has ample play room to accomodate such a large bed.

We were able to set up the the twin bed and semi-organize the babies room. We have along ways to go but we are so excited to have a nursery to decorate!

Breaking Dawn

The last two twilight movies consisted of hot cocoa and waiting in line with my mama. This year we decided to switch it up since my dad and hubby both wanted to join us. We made a date night out of it and got a babysitter for the evening (my fabulous in laws) and it was BLISS! We got in line about 8:30, snacked on a bunch of junk food and enjoyed each other's company! All of the ladies kept telling me how lucky I was that my hubby came because theirs wouldn't. It was such a fun night and I was so glad to share it with my favorite people :)

Yup, I definitely have a keeper...

Smarty pants

I could probably have a whole blog dedicated to all of the hillarious things Ty says to me. Seriously, this kid cracks me up.

We didn't enroll Ty in pre school this year so we have school at home. He has a little desk, chair and workbooks and we go over the alphabets, numbers, colors and basic stuff at home. We were going over numbers starting with FOURteen, Fifteen, SIXteen, SEVENteen, EIGHTteen, NINEteen and Ty would not let up about 15 being incorrect. He did not believe me... at all. So when we go over numbers he says FIVEteen. I felt so bad for him because his little brain did not comprehend why it wouldn't be FIVEteen.

"Mommy, I don't want her to hurt you"

Last Sunday, the Discovery channel was showing "Curiosity:Life Before Birth" and Ty came out and wanted to watch it. It wasn't graphic and showed how the baby develops during the whole process. It was incredibly fascinating. He loved watching how the tummy got bigger and the baby sleeping when inside the tummy.

Then they covered the delivery part. Ty was so intrigued and yet so confused. He kept asking why the baby was hurting the mommy and that he didn't want the baby hurting me. So Tyler and I explained in a 3 year old way how it hurts for only a short while and then the baby comes out and everything is fine. So before we put him back in bed he prayed that his little sister wouldn't hurt mommy too much. It was the sweetest little remark. Ty has been so compassionate during the pregnancy. When I am throwing up he rushes over to me and pats my back and tells me everything is going to be okay. Tyler likes to shield him and draw his attention elsewhere but Ty will say, "I need to see my sweetie heart."

I am just so in love with this little boy. He drives me insane but he has a heart full of gold :)

14 weeks... officially out of my 1st Tri

To say this pregnancy is different than my 1st would be a complete understatement. I have pretty much every symptom that a woman could have during pregnancy. This nauseous 24/7 is still kicking. I throw up at least every other day sometimes twice. I am so tired all.the.time. My poor husband who usually gets a clean house, dinner on the table when he gets home, and work clothes neatly hung up probably has not gotten that for a week straight for the past 2 months. Thankfully, I married a very independent man who doesn't hesitate to make dinner. Although, cleaning just hasn't happened. So please no random stops at our house because it is just not clean unless I know we will be having company :)

I am so thankful for our new arrival, don't get me wrong. Ty is SO excited to have a sibling or as he calls it his "baby sister." Ty is just convinced we are having a little girl. We have tried to sway him just in case we are having another boy but he is completely set on a little girl. Part of me thinks I am having a girl because I feel 100% different this time around. But who knows. We will find out in a little over a month! Tyler is dead set on it being another boy because he doesn't believe he will make girls.

When I went to the doctor's for my 8 week appointment I had lost 5 lbs then went back a month later and gained three pounds so... so far, I am at -2 lbs. However, I'm sure once I stop throwing up everything I eat then I should be semi normal and start to enjoy food again :)

And luckily for us, Ty and I have been battling a cold for the past week that has not let up. Ty is just the sweetest little guy when he is sick and just wants to lay and cuddle me. Which, is great because I have no energy to do anything else.

Anyways, it's almost 1 am and my husband wants a grilled cheese sandwich so off to make him one.

Cute things Ty says :)

As soon as Ty meets anyone he likes to inform them I have a baby in my tummy. We went to my 14 week doctor's appointment and Ty begins to tell the doctor that I have a baby in my tummy. The doctor informs Ty that he already knew. So Ty replies with,

"Ohhh I know. You did it"

Cute things Ty says :)

I'm pretty sure we have by far, the sweetest little boy... ever! Every morning I wake up to him saying,

"Good Morning my 'Sweetie-heart' I love you"
What makes this even better is he caresses my face while saying it to me. There is something so sweet about a love between a mother and son.

It is the BEST way to start off the day :) I just love this little boy!

If you give a mom a break...

If you give a mom a break, she'll decide it would be nice to read a book.

As she sits down to read her book, she'll remember that she likes to drink hot chocolate while reading.

When she goes to make the hot chocolate, she'll decide to do a quick load of dishes while it heats up.

When the dishes are done, she'll decide that the counters need a quick wipe-down.

As she wipes down the counters, she'll find a stack of school papers to fill out.

She'll sit down to fill out the papers, and realize she can't find a pen.

She'll go to the office to get a pen and see the stack of bills to pay.

After she sits down and pays the bills and does the paperwork, she'll set it all on the kitchen counter, and see the dishrag still laying there.

So, she'll take it down to the laundry, where she will decide to throw a load of laundry in.

By the time she comes upstairs to get her book and hot chocolate, the hot chocolate will be cold.

She'll decide to skip the hot chocolate (better for the waistline) and read in a hot bath instead.

So, she'll go to draw the bath and find the tub full of toys.

She'll empty it out, and notice it needs to be cleaned.

So, she'll clean up the tub quick, and also the toilet, since the cleaners are all out.

Finally, she'll start to fill the tub with water for her hot bath.

Just as she does, her husband and kids will come home.

The hot (now cold) chocolate will be consumed by one child, while the other gets in the tub.

And, she'll realize that she really needs a break.

Ty moved up a level at swim class :)

I found a groupon for a local swim school and we immediately signed him up. He did the month trial and he really enjoyed it so we signed him up for weekly classes. We made sure we signed up for a night lesson (it is a indoor pool) so Daddy would be able to be there since he works late. Ty loves going to class and it is so much fun watching him absorb all that his teachers teach him.

Ty is now a "Seahorse"

Disneyland

It's crazy to think that this was our first LONG family trip. We have done Monterey and Santa Cruz trips but we always had to be home in a few days. This was our first trip when we were gone for FIVE whole days! We had such a blast. Tyler loved being off of work and it was so nice to see how calm and relaxed he was. We were soo fortunate to use my mother in law's timeshare which cut the cost of our trip. The hotel also included breakfast which helped us save significantly. We were pleasantly surprised how affordable Disneyland is if you bring your own lunch and snacks inside the park. Ty had such a blast! It was so cute to see his sweet little face light up when he would meet the different characters. This was the perfect age for him to go and it definitely is the happiest place on earth :)

He loved the pool
While waiting for Sleeping Beauty he would tug my arm and say how beautiful she is.
He was soo excited to see Buzz!!
He did not like the rocking motion of the ferris wheel
He kept asking to take a picture with me and then would feed himself.

World of Color. We had front row seats! Awesome and highly recommend!

saw this and LOVE it!

"We need to teach our daughters to distinguish between a man who flatters her and a man who compliments her, a man who spends money on her and a man who invests in her, a man who views her as property and a man who views her properly, a man who lusts after her and a man who loves her, a man who believes he is God's gift to women and a man who remembers that a woman was God's gift to man. And then teach our sons to be that type of man"

23rd Birthday :)

Sorry, I haven't been blogging a lot! Things have been crazy around here and I needed to prioritize my time. Whoops :) Anyways, I had a great birthday. I received some stainless steel measuring cups which are my absolute favorite! We bought some cheap plastic ones and they always break or the measurement comes off. I am in love with my new ones! I also got a new can opener... huge difference :), cutting board, citrus juicer. Cooking yummy and healthy meals is my job so it was great to get things I desperately need!

I also appreciate all the facebook posts, text messages, cards, and calls I received. I am so thankful to have such amazing friends, family which includes my husband's family! I am one very lucky lady :)

Ty finished his first summer reading program and he received his prize bag. He also got to pick out a book which made him SO happy! :) We are so proud of you, Tyler Daniel!

He was soo proud of himself :)
And the prizes aren't too shabby either :)

Reading

When I was younger, my mom always had my older sister and me go to the library and participate in their summer reading program. Because of that, I have always loved reading. We started Ty on the summer reading program in our town and have been visiting our local library at least once a week. Ty loves it. He loves picking out what books he wants to read and play with the little toys they have. So, recently I have been getting into reading as well. I started reading :

I obsessively followed the Casey Anthony Murder Trial and they constantly compared her to Diane Downs. I was interested in reading more about her and found a book about her at our library. It was crazy. In short, she is a mother who was convicted of shooting her three children and murdering one. She still believes she was wrongly convicted.

I am an extremely paranoid person. Sometimes it drives my husband crazy but this book has pushed my paranoid to the extreme. It is so sad that there are people like him who have a complete disregard for life.

Soo, after reading two very heavy and crazy books, Tyler pleaded with me to read a happier book. I think he was a bit concerned....

So I am currently reading,
And I LOVE it! It definitely provides the boost I need on certain days. It's so unfortunate that stay at home moms need to always justify their choices. Nobody questions why a woman is a nurse, teacher or banker. We aren't on any state insurance, food program or relying on our church or family for anything so why the heck does it matter if I stay home? I highly recommend this book! It will put a bounce in your step and a smile on your face :)

Trip with Daddy

A few weeks ago we found out Daddy was going on a business trip about 1.5 hrs away for 5 days. Tyler and I have only been apart about a day so it was definitely going to be different. Not too mention, Ty was not going to like being away from his daddy. I had to dog sit on Tuesday and Friday so we thought it would be fun to go late on Tuesday and come home Thursday night. It was a nice little mini vacation--at least for Ty and I. I'm not sure Daddy loved it as much because his quiet hotel room was quickly thrashed with toys and clothes. But oh well. :)

I was able to meet up with my friend Lisa and her daughter, Aubrey and my cousin's wife and two cute kids. I wasn't prepared for the weather to be so much hotter than where we lived but it was nice to have back to back playdates!

Ty and Olivia

Ty meeting 11 day old Brody! He is such a sweet little guy!

Ty swimming in the hotel pool. He LOVED it!

After playing with Aubrey all day we came back to the hotel to take a nap. As soon as Daddy got off work he jumped in bed and joined us!

On our way to visit Dad!

Ty wanted to read Aubrey a book before naptime!
