Gabriella's Nursery

** To read up on all the steps we took prior to the finished project start here **
Painting
We have been looking for a rug for such a long time! I was fortunate to find this one at Target and luckily we had gift cards :)

PAINT COLORS:
Aqua Spray by Behr
Hidden Meadow by Behr
Her closet!!! I wanted to paint the inside of the closet a different color but we had already put the shelving in before I decided that. Maybe when she's older. I love how organized and huge it is! The top left is for shirts, bottom left is bottoms, top right is skirts and dresses and bottom right are clothes she doesn't fit in yet.
Here is her BRAND new FREE crib :) and the bedding. We were going to use Ty's old crib but it was recalled so we got a $280 giftcard to Target and bought this one! We opted to not buy the complete bedding set because I didn't need a diaper stacker, bumpers or comforter and didn't need all the extra fluff. Saved a ton of money that way!
Those heart shaped wreaths were made by my mother in law. She made one of them for my shower and I loved it so much we wanted to use it in the nursery! Her name or a saying will go in the middle of the wreaths right above the crib
I am in love with the shadow boxes. We got all of them for 11 bucks at Ross. The larger one will be for all of her hospital stuff. Then we have an ultrasound picture. Eventually I'll add a picture of Ty and Ella together and a picture of both of their handprints.
BEFOREWe got this lovely gem for free :)

AFTER
This project was super fun and CHEAP! I made those boxes out of cardboard boxes and fabric. The sides are sprayed with white spray paint. We were trying to find a specific size for the opening and we couldn't find anything! Or ones we did find were like $15 a basket. Ummm, sorry... we were not about to spend $45 bucks on three baskets. We got the dresser for free and sanded, primed and painted it white. We got the beautiful matching knobs as a gift.

This was a mirror my mom gave to Tyler and I after we got married to decorate our first apartment. I wanted to add that to the room so we spray painted it white and added the cute butterflies to it!
Got the shelf from Target. The "cupcakes" were made from receiving blankets and onesies. They were baby shower decorations from my talented sister in law, Kristi and I just loved them so we added them to her nursery. My mom bought this book and had everyone who came to my shower sign it and leave messages for Ella. It was a wonderful idea and something Ella will be able to treasure forever!

It is finally done!!!! We were very fortunate to reuse a bunch of things we already had which cut the costs down a lot! We also received a TON of handmade items from our wonderful family. It was nice to use gifts that our family members made especially for her. We also received a ton as gifts or through giftcards! Well, we are technically missing the decal but besides that everything else is done! All we need is our little Ella :)

36 Weeks!!

Well well well. We have 1 more month until little miss will be here! We have finally finished her nursery! We will probably post pictures the end of this week or next. We are waiting on my mother in law to finish one of her super cute wall decorations. So whenever that is done we will post them. We have also been looking into a wall decal with her name but haven't found much luck. I have stalked etsy but unfortunately, we found one we liked and waited too long so I'm hoping they re list it.
Both of our hospital bags are now packed. Thank goodness. I'm not overly packing. I looked at a bunch of lists but decided to just follow the basics that my hospital advised. That way, we don't have too much to lug around. All of her newborn clothes, towels, blankets, bouncers&swings and sheets are washed! It was surreal to wash all of her little and PINK stuff. Ty has been such a trooper and very helpful. I put her car seat mirror up while he used the hand vac to clean out the car. He has been getting very anxious and I think a little frustrated that it has taken so long. He gets the cutest little smile when he feels my tummy and she moves. Tyler has also finalized his plans to take 3 weeks off :) We are so excited to have Daddy stay and help us. Although, I'm sure he is excited to have a much needed break from work!
Luckily, pregnancy has been amazing. No swollen feet. No severe heartburn. No waddling. I'm tired but not overly tired. No constipation and I'm not running to the toilet often. I am definitely game for her to stay in for the whole four weeks! However, I still have the thought of her coming early--which if she is like Ty, she could be here in two weeks! Eeeek!

28 weeks!!!

Holy cow! Our little girl will be coming in less than 3 months. So far, everything has been going fantastic. I am feeling great and loving being pregnant. My leg randomly falls asleep so that has been awesome and I have woken up with a leg cramp a few times. But even with that, I just love it! It is so much fun seeing the excitement on Ty and Tyler's face. They are both so anxious and excited for her! She will be one loved little girl.

She still does not have a name. We thought we had one but nope, I am still undecided. Ahhhh! She is about 2 and a quarter pounds and 14 1/2 inches long. She also kicks me like crazy. She is one active little girl. I was hoping for a calm child but maybe she will be as rambunctious as her brother :)

There has not been any progress on her room. We painted the accent wall but we need to paint the rest of the room. Now, that I think about it... we really need to get on that!

98.5% done with the closet!!

So we started with this vision here. We tweaked a couple things like four rods instead of six and changing out the bottom part of the middle section. Tyler was completely opposed to having six rods because he didn't want her clothes to drag. :) What a cute dad!

Now, we are finally finished! It isn't exactly like the picture but the total cost for everything which included dowels, closet rod supports, primer and paint was about $25. We are so pleased with the results and so happy we did it as a family!!

Way before... like before we moved in

After we added rods on one side and put the middle part in.

Sanded, primed and painted.

Now, we just need to add baskets and hang up her clothes! E eekkk :)

Reupholstering the nursery glider + bedding colors

The original

All done :)

We got this for free when I was pregnant with Tyler and I had plans to re do it but working two jobs did not make it possible. It was such a fun project because everyone in our family helped out! Ty helped prime it and then Daddy spray painted it. We opted to spray paint because it would of taken too long to paint it with a brush and we wanted something fast and simple!

I was in charge of redoing the cushions. I wish I took a picture of them before! They were in good condition just pretty dirty. Yes, we did choose a pinkish color, which matches her bedding.

This is what we choose:

It doesn't have a lot of pink but I really wanted the chair to pop and we were fortunate to find the exact color at Joanns.

I used this tutorial to help me and it was such a breeze! If you follow this correctly, it makes it so easy.

We have a few more projects and we still need to paint the nursery but everything is coming together in good time!

22 weeks + update on closet

I am feeling great! Nothing has changed on my front. My tummy is starting to stick out but I don't feel like I look pregnant just fat lol. My husband says I just look like I have eaten a few big dinners... a few times. haha. Ty says my tummy is getting so big and one day it's gonna pop. Ohhh, how these guys just make me smile. Love them both! I am finally able to feel her move a whole lot more now, which is so exciting. She is also now about 11 inches and almost one pound!

Her crib is finally all put together. In fact, the day we got the new one (December 15th) I put it together that night. Tyler thought I was nuts. However, I want to finish everything so my last month I just get to focus on Ty. He is soo excited to see his little sister but I can't help but feel bad for how much this will rock his world. He will have had 4 years of everyone's undivided attention.

We also started her closet. My wonderful husband sanded and did the first coat of paint while I primed and did the second coat of paint. We decided to use a bookshelf that we weren't using, for the middle part of the design I want for her closet.

Ty LOVES to help! Especially since he knows it is for his sister

Just put the primer on!

We put the closet rods on the middle shelf. We still need to paint, sand, add baskets, and the shelves on the other side!

All I know is our little daughter is SO lucky to have such an amazing father and brother!!

Nursery closet ideas

I am absolutely IN LOVE with this closet. I found it on Pinterest and Tyler and I have decided to go ahead and do it for the nursery. Our house has some pretty crappy closet doors so we have decided to take out the closet doors in her room and either add the bifold doors or keep it spacious and open. The closet in her room is pretty big so I wanted something that offers lots of organization so we don't end up with a bunch of clutter.

Tyler thinks it will be pretty easy to get the wood and put it in there. But, he does work crazy hours and not sure when he'll find the time. So if all else fails we can purchase it at home depot!

Project before the baby comes!

BEFORE ( STEP ONE)

( I removed all of the hardware, ugly drawer liner and drawer that opened)

This was one of my many many projects I wanted to do before I got pregnant that I never got around too. We actually got this dresser for free when I was pregnant with Ty and I had high hopes to finish it with him but well, that never happened. My plan is to strip it (which is why I can't do it now) then repaint it white and get new hardware. I didn't like the drawer that opened so we decided to remove it and add baskets inside. I'm a little sad I won't be able to do all the hard work but luckily, I have a husband who is willing to do this for me. I wanted a white dresser so it could match our new crib!!

Our new crib that we ordered for our baby girl!
