Halloween 2013

Since Ty is a Kindergartner, he was able to participate in the Halloween parade at school. He was looking forward to smiling, waving at people and of course, wearing his cool costume. He wanted his Grandma Maria to come so he called her and she said, "Of course I'll come!" I tried to give her an out but she wasn't having it (and he was getting upset I was trying to tell her not to come) and was so excited to come. So, my darling mother in law drove the two hours to see her grandson walk around the black top (like 5 times) and spend the day with them. It was perfect. The kids enjoyed being with her and I know she had a blast.
After the parade, Ty had a little party with his class and we went to pick up our Disneyland tickets we won
We had plans to go to Apple Hill but those were quickly changed once our battery died. We waited to get jumped then we had to buy a battery but luckily found out it was still under warranty so we drove to another store so we could get it half off.

After our fun little adventure, she had to go :( It was such a great visit but she had to get on the road to try to miss traffic. After she left, we went Downtown where the kids trick or treated at all of the stores. It was fun! The kids got so much candy! We quickly ate dinner and went trick or treating with Grandma and Grandpa, Mariah and Erick. It was a blast. The kids got so much candy and when they came home they each received post cards from their Great Grandparents who are vacationing in Hawaii.

It was the most perfect day! We are so grateful for the family we have in our life. Nothing could be better :)

My brilliant boy!

Tyler amazes me everyday. Tyler was nominated by his teacher to be Student of the Month for his class. He was SO proud! Tyler will always have a special place in my heart. He was the first one to make me a mama and brought so much love and happiness! He's a great boy and I am so proud of him. Big Tyler and I had to grow up fast but there is no better joy than being his mama :)

Ty's 1st Day of School

Today was such a bittersweet day for me.  Ty has grown into a caring and sweet little boy. He is loving, compassionate, cautious and has such a big heart. For the first 4 years of his life he was with me 24/7. During my pregnancy, I always knew I would have to go back to work. I dreaded that day when I received the call that I needed to go back. I went back for two days and I couldn't do it and never went back. I figured after a year I would go back to work and we would find a steady sitter. When he was 9 months, he had a seizure and ended up in the ER. That will probably always be one of the WORST and hardest days of my life. It was that day, that I knew I could not go back to work. It might be selfish. And I know I have gotten flack for it. We have sacrificed and Tyler has worked lots of OT but I am so grateful that we made the right decision for our family.

When Ty was 4 he went to preschool. It was a big step but it was so amazing to watch his personality change for the better. This shy timid little boy turned into an amazing boy. The fact that he was leaving me and starting KIndergarten wasn't affecting me as much as the realization that I no longer have my dependent "little" Ty. He is independent and learning about life all on his own. He is starting his first of many years of school. He is not in "little boy" school but a full fledged kindergartner. He will make new friends, learn about new things and most importantly, become someone that I know I will always be proud of.

I was a wreck this morning. I cried while looking at his 1st day of school outfit he picked out. I cried while packing his lunch. I cried while writing his first note in his lunch bag. I cried when I put his bag in his backpack. I cried while cutting up his fruit for breakfast. He would just look at me and smile and say, "Mom, I'm a big boy now and it's going to be great." I quickly went into my room to get ready and say a quick prayer so I could calm myself down.

Ty was excited.
He was ready.
 He was prepared.
 He was brave.

He was brave enough for the both of us and that was just what I needed. My mom also came the morning of and gave him a sweet little pep talk. It was great to have her here to witness such a memorable day. It meant a lot to him to have her here and it was so helpful for me so I could relax and enjoy the morning.

He will never have a first day of elementary school again and I am so glad that I was able to be apart of it. I was able to witness the happiness on his face as he walked into his classroom and the sheer joy when he walked out at the end of the day. Plus, Daddy was able to get the day off which made the day even more perfect!  I am so lucky to be his mother and he is truly the most amazing boy.

The night before his first day of Kindergarten.
 Ty and Grandma!
She was SO excited for Ty!
 Lining up with his classmates
 Smile Ty!
His teacher wanted the kids to walk and say goodbye to their parents outside the classroom.
 Obviously, I have a problem listening ;-)
So, I had to find his desk!
And where he was keeping his backpack!
Ty is behind the girl with the blue shirt.
 Walking out!
He was SO happy! And in his hand is the shiny new pencil he received from the principal.

He had a great day. He was smiling and can't wait to go back.

Preschool Baby Shower!

Shortly after Ty started school, his preschool teacher found out she was expecting. She is so amazing with the children and such a sweet and caring woman. We decided on her last day to throw her a little baby shower!

A couple moms offered to bring some treats. I wanted to make something yummy and simple. Chocolate covered pretzel rods with some raspberry sherbet candy melts... SCORE!

Diaper cake. SO EASY AND FUN! I used this tutorial for the inspiration. I thought the tulle was a beautiful and feminine touch. Much better than plain ribbon!

  1.  I used the tulle in a lot of the details for the shower. Ty wanted to get her some flowers when the baby came. Since we won't be there I told them to bring them to her last day/baby shower. He picked them out all on his own :)
I wanted to hand out a cheap but cute favor. I knew I shouldn't spend too much effort because they were preschoolers who really wouldn't appreciate it. So, I found this cute little label online and added the "Thank you for coming."
Group gift from about 5 of the kids!
I wanted to give a gift from the whole class so nobody would feel bad if they didn't bring another gift. . I enlisted help from the other teacher to have them sign their names and take a picture. It turned out SO cute!

Ty and his beautiful teacher, who HARDLY looks pregnant. Some people are just so lucky!

It was such a special day and she was SO excited! Congrats and we will miss you, Ms. Seneca!

Smarty pants

I could probably have a whole blog dedicated to all of the hillarious things Ty says to me. Seriously, this kid cracks me up.

We didn't enroll Ty in pre school this year so we have school at home. He has a little desk, chair and workbooks and we go over the alphabets, numbers, colors and basic stuff at home. We were going over numbers starting with FOURteen, Fifteen, SIXteen, SEVENteen, EIGHTteen, NINEteen and Ty would not let up about 15 being incorrect. He did not believe me... at all. So when we go over numbers he says FIVEteen. I felt so bad for him because his little brain did not comprehend why it wouldn't be FIVEteen.

Haven't blogged in awhile!

Font sizeMy sister texted me last night asking if I have given up on blogging-- I have not! Along with being a full-time mama, I am also taking summer classes! Summer classes, for those of you who have taken them are super fast paced so I have absolutely no time!! So let's see what I can update since the last time I posted which was Ty's Birthday.

1) Mother's Day was awesome! Had a delicious breakfast in bed, cute card, and lots of love and kisses from my boys!

2) We put an offer on a house in the Tri-Valley, a week later found out an all cash offer came. Sucks.

3) Paid off our credit card debt!! Yay! No more debt. We didn't have extreme debt, I mean no collection calls, thank goodness. But we have ZERO debt. I'm a little excited.

4) I graduated.. I got my AA in Liberal Arts and Sciences

5) We got a King size bed-- it's AWESOME. We highly recommend them ;-)

6) We had a family reunion! I saw my beautiful nephews, sista and bro in law!

7) Tyler got a raise! :) Whoo hoo!

8) Put an offer in a house and we should hear soon!!!

Day #6

I am thankful for.... the ability to learn

Although I currently attend a community college it has been nice to take numerous classes to strengthen myself as well as be a better wife and mother. I will be able to teach my son all I know as well as motivate him to get a college degree. With a degree, I can be a better wife by helping my husband should anything happen and I need to take care of our family. I am very thankful to have the opportunity to take online courses and have such a supportive family pushing me along the way!
