Day 1 of pulling weeds

That lovely pictures above shows a portion of our backyard covered in WEEDS and/or CRABGRASS. Seriously, there is noooo grass in there. It's awful. It drives us insane. We have been in our first home since October and we have done absolutely nothing about it. Well, until now! I have decided this will be my next project. I have finally finished painting all the rooms, re doing bathrooms, kitchens, basically all I can do without major remodeling. Soooo, I am pulling all the weeds and then put seed down. We originally wanted to lay sod but our lot is over 11,000 sq ft and it is going to be quite pricey so we figure we will try the seed route and if it doesn't work out we will do sod next year!

So today was my first day pulling weeds. It was not as bad as I thought. It is starting to look soo much better. It's dirt none the less, but a lot better than the other crap!

The other half will be next Tuesday!

It took about an hour or two. Of course, that included water breaks, switching songs on Pandora, telling water not to chuck the weeds in our neighbors yard, not to throw dirt on me, potty breaks , and NOT to throw the weeds around the yard. This pile looks really small :-/

It was a lot! Seriously!

BTW, this was KILLER exercise. Probably didn't help that it was over 90 degrees but hey, the price you pay to live in Cali!

Week 7 stats!

I had every intention of blogging weekly about my journey, but I forgot. Soooo, I am first going to update on all my stats. I'm sure there are more technically terms than the ones I will use but this is how I visualize where exactly to measure lol :) So here it goes.

In 7 weeks I have lost:

Belly - 4.5 inches

Underneath my "bulge" (LOL) - 4 inches

Rt Thigh - 2.5 inches

Rt arm-1.5 inches

Bust-4.5 inches

Underneath armpit- 4 inches

Under bust- 3 inches

Whoooo hooo! I am going to the gym 6 days a week which has contributed to my loss. There is no way, I could drop the amount I have without exercising. My mom is a aerobic instructor and is in THE BEST shape and always tells me it is IMPOSSIBLE to lose weight unless you are exercising. She has constantly given me guidance and support and I truly appreciate it. The support from everyone on facebook is also much appreciated and very helpful! It is so exhilarating watching my body start to change and reaping my rewards. I have noticed my shirts getting looser and my tummy start to go down. At times, it hasn't been easy and there have been plenty of times I don't want to go to the gym. However, if I ever want to reach my goal this is what I have to do!

Ty has been so good in the child care and loves playing with the other kids. I have 6 weeks until his party so if I keep it up everyone should see a whole new person! Or at least a much skinner and HEALTHIER one :)

P.S. I SWEAR by measuring now. It was frustrating watching the scale and wanting to be the same weight I was previously before Ty. However, it isn't realistic because my body has changed. I want to actually have muscle which weighs more. I don't have a specific number in mind but I do have a certain look I want. Each week, I continue to lose inches somewhere. So even though, I am not loosing it all in my stomach my thighs, bust and arms are continuing to lose!

Apparently, I am the most productive when sick :)

First off, I absolutely hate being sick. It has caused an EXTREME damper on my exercise schedule as well as healthy eating. I am not hungry so I am not eating, which will be frustrating when I get my appetite back. I also haven't been to the gym for two days straight. I am trying to relax so I will be well for cycle tomorrow. Please pray for me! I have a goal and this sickness cannot get the best of me.

For those of you who are updated by our families blog I probably should discuss my new desire to lose weight. This has not been a relatively new goal-in fact, I have had this goal to lose the weight since Ty was born. Being the dreamer I am, I felt like once I popped out Ty everything would magically fall off. Well it didn't. I was exclusively breast feeding so I had heard that was awesome for losing weight. Apparently that alone and eating a massive amount of calories doesn't cause you to lose weight. Darn it. About a year or so after I had him I got really into it. I got so into it I was lost about 10 lbs in a month. I was very impressed with myself and then... the dreaded plateau. Yup, I plateaued and tried for two weeks to lose and I just stayed at the same weight. I was frustrated and stopped working out and eating well. Then six months later, I had the same goal. I was doing really well for about two months then my back started hurting. I had x rays, mri's done and I found out I had arthritis and a herniated discs in my lower back. I had epidural steroid injections and it has helped a lot. But since then, I have been freaked out about working out because I do not want to overdo it.

It's not like I don't want to lose weight. I do. Believe me, I do. It is a mixed emotion with not ever being 100% into it and being scared to injure myself. But, I decided to make a goal to lose about 8 inches by Ty's birthday party. I have about 2 1/2 months to go. Which hopefully I can do. I am following a strict and fun eating plan and working out at 24 fitness. So far I have lost 1.5 inches in my thigh, upper arm, waist, hips and 2 inches in my bust. Tyler is not too happy about the latter. I have been very determined and working out has been very fun. I take the classes 24 offers which is very good for me because I can't run on the treadmill so I am able to do a structured cardio.

So wish me luck. Thanks for everyone who is keeping me motivated on facebook. I really appreciate it and it helps me keep going when working out is the last thing I want to do.

On a happier note:

I have finished the guest list and menu for Ty's birthday party. I LOVE throwing his birthday parties. This is such a rush and so much fun. This is one of my favorite parts of being a mom. We have the theme picked out and we have already started shopping for decorations and planning activities. The best part is that it will be the first time a lot of our friends and families will see our house -- in person. We are very excited to show off our first home as well as show off our cute little boy! :)
